Town centre hardest hit by virus deaths
New figures show where disease has hit our community
More than 20 coronavirus deaths have been recorded around Ayr town centre, new figures have revealed.
A total of 21 Covid fatalities have been registered both there and in the town’s South Harbour region since March.
Tragically, 294 deaths across Ayrshire have been linked to the virus since the outbreak began.
The National Records of Scotland released fresh statistics giving a breakdown of where deaths involving Covid- 19 have taken place in the county.
And the figures revealed South Ayrshire has the highest death toll in the region, with 112 deaths and 483 cases so far.
Ayr South Harbour and Town Centre has recorded the most coronavirus- linked deaths.
The Prestwick Airport and Monkton area came next on the list with 19 fatalities.
North Ayrshire has recorded 107 deaths with 477 cases – the lowest in the region, while East Ayrshire has recorded the most cases during the pandemic at 512.
But their death toll is the lowest at 75.
The full breakdown below of the communities in our area takes into account Covid- 19 linked deaths between March 1 and August 31.
