Covid hits 32 at care home

Coronaviru­s has ripped through a care home in Ayr – with 32 people hit by the killer virus.

Thirteen staff and 19 residents have tested positive at Rozelle Holm Farm.

Teams from the NHS and South Ayrshire Council are bidding to support the privately run facility.

NHS chief Joy Tomlinson said: “Every measure is being taken to protect residents and staff.”

A care home in Ayr is dealing with a large scale coronaviru­s outbreak.

A total of 32 people have contracted the virus within the Rozelle Holm Farm accommodat­ion in Alloway.

Thirteen staff and 19 residents have currently tested positive.

Health teams from the NHS and South Ayrshire Council are now supporting the privately run residentia­l facility to keep residents and staff safe.

Director of public health Joy Tomlinson said: “NHS Ayrshire & Arran’s Health Protection Team and the South Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnershi­p are working closely with a care home in South Ayrshire where a number of individual­s have either a confirmed or suspected case of coronaviru­s ( COVID- 19) infection.

“We appreciate this is a very worrying time.

“However, we would like to assure people that every measure is being taken to protect residents and staff.”

Forbes Robertson, boss of the home, told the Post: “We lasted from March until the end of October free of coronaviru­s.

“Two future kings had it, the Prime Minister has had it and the most powerful man in the world has had it. We had to get it.

“We are doing our best to support residents.”
