Remembrance

-

Remembrance will be quite different this year, with no parade or public ceremony– but many churches still have remembrance arrangements in place.

On Remembrance Sunday ( November 8), Troon Old Parish’s worship services will be held at 9.15am and 10.30am with elements of Remembrance incorporated.

Wreaths will be laid at the Troon Cenotaph by the Deputy Lord Lieutenant and Dr Philippa Whitford MP, and at 11am members of the public are being invited to stand for a two minutes silence in their own outdoor environment and not at the Troon Cenotaph.

A pre- recorded Online Remembrance Service will go live through Troon Old’s website at 11am and will include the usual Remembrance dedications of wreath presentation, scripture readings, choral singing, prayers and musical interludes.

This service will be posted again at 11am on Remembrance Day ( Wednesday, November 11).

Some of these details may change but please refer to the church website ( www. troonold. org. uk) for updated and further information.

During the rest of November, Troon Old will continue to offer two reflective Sunday services in the sanctuary, at 9.15am and 10.30am.

Online Sunday Services also continue to go live weekly through the website at 9.30am, while the Midweek Meditation occurs each Wednesday.

These can also be accessed through the Dial- a- Podcast service 01292 434504.

• There will be no service at the war memorial in Prestwick.

Monkton and Prestwick North Church will lay a wreath on behalf of the church with a Youtube service taking place at 10.50am, observing the silence at 11am.

The church add that some may like to observe the silence standing on their doorsteps as they did for Clap for Carers/ NHS.

• Ballantrae Church will host a service of Remembrance at 11.30am on Sunday ( Nov 8) at the church. There will be no parade to the War Memorial or service at the War Memorial this year.
