WOS LEAGUE

-

Matt Maley insists Annbank are determined to battle through the winter and not join the growing list of clubs who have quit the West of Scotland League season.

Dalry became the latest outfit to withdraw after blasting the ‘ misjudgement’ of the league committee in making them the only Ayrshire team in a redrawn Conference C.

The Merksworth men claimed additional travel costs without changing facilities was ‘ a step too far.’

But Bankies boss Maley reveals his team have vowed to keep playing – even although they will now use Dam Park with New Pebble Park out of action.

Maley said: “We have invested a lot of money in our park as we are focussed on getting a decent surface but we are not as far ahead as planned.

“The club is on a new journey and we felt it would be wrong not to play. We want to secure our future by growth and our players were unanimous that they want to keep going.”

Bankies fell behind to a Sean McKenna strike against Bellshill but Jordan Ryan volleyed the equaliser after Marc Dyer, who has signed from Whitletts, headed the ball on.

The visitors had Craig Grierson dismissed before Mitchell Ewing drove home via the post. However, they never gave up and Neil Schoneville’s header secured a 2- 2 draw.

Maley added: “All in all I am very happy. The squad were excellent.”

TROON will bid to make it two wins from two in the Premier Division when they entertain Rossvale on Saturday.

BEITH needed an injury time Jordan Duffy strike to beat Rob Roy 2- 1 after Ally Park’s first competitive goal for the club equalised with 15 minutes to go.
