Showstoppers give some festive cheer
Children forced to miss their usual Christmas nativity have become musical stars instead.
The hard- working pupils at Forehill Primary, Ayr, have recorded their own track in a bid to ensure the festive fun goes on.
Ta l e nted youngsters performed ‘ Let Love In’ – a song aimed at lifting spirits following a tough year.
Music teacher Lee McDowall told the Post : “Usually at this time of year our school is starting to prepare for Christmas concerts, nativity plays, performances, and musical outings.
“Howe v e r, c u r r e n t restrictions have had a significant impact on music being taught at Forehill.
“We wanted to do something that would lift the spirits of pupils, staff and families. So we came up with the idea of writing our own song, recording it and releasing it.
“Obviously we would’ve loved to have had all children singing on the track, but it just wasn’t possible, so instead we recorded a few P7 pupils singing and playing.
“The rest of the school then learned to sign to the song using Makaton and we recorded a video of all our pupils.”
Proceeds from the track will go to the Ayrshire Hospice, after some of the school’s pupils were asked to take part in an online concert for the charity.
Lee said: “Our pupils wanted to perform our own song for the concert.
“Now that we’ve recorded ‘ Let Love In’, we’d like to donate
any profits generated from the track to the Hospice.
“They do so much to support our community and if we are able to support them then in anyway we should do so.
“Hopefully the song and video can put a few smiles on some people’s faces whilst raising money for a great cause at – we all know it’s greatly needed at this current time.”
