Mental health support for young

-

Young people in South Ayrshire are to benefit from a new mental health support service.

Togetherall, an online support community, will be free to access for all 16-25-year olds living in the area.

The 24/7 scheme offers a peer-topeer support network, moderated by trained professionals.

The platform is anonymous and boasts tools including self-guided support courses on topics such as anxiety, sleep and depression.

Online articles will help members understand more about the issues they may be facing.

Councillor William Grant , South Ayrshire Council’s spokesman for Children and Young People, said:“It’s really important for young people to look after their mental health and wellbeing, especially in the current circumstances.

“Mental health does not define you, but opening up to others and taking ownership of how you’re feeling is the first step in feeling better.

“We want you to grow well, live well and age well, and, and I’m delighted that we’re able to offer this valuable service to young people aged 16-25 in South Ayrshire.”

Henry Jones, chief executive of Togetherall, added:“Whether it’s feelings of isolation, anxiety or depression, lockdown is having a dramatic impact on the mental health of our young people, which is why we are thrilled to be able to provide them with the support that they need.”

You can join Togetherall by visiting https://account.v2.togetherall.com/ register/area ? and entering your South Ayrshire postcode.
