A glass to reopening
“I don’t want to sound like sour grapes either because every businessman tries and does his best.
“Hopefully if anything comes out of this it’ll be that in the future people will examine the facts and figures and say, ‘well, maybe we were a wee bit rough on the hospitality trade’.
“But I am starting to look forward to getting all my regulars in and seeing old faces.
Bob is hoping after lockdown
“the 2020s can really get started”.
He added: “If you look back in history after the First World War, the 1920s began and it was called ‘the roaring 20s’ because theatres expanded, restaurants opened and trains took people on holiday to Britain.
“The 1920s was a huge leap in hospitality and throughout the country so I’m hoping maybe after this lockdown, the 2020s can really get started.
“And maybe we’ll appreciate more going out.”
Hotels and accommodation are also eager to welcome guests again.
Glenapp Castle will be reopening on May 17, which will see the launch of the five-star hotel’s new Endeavour Penthouse Suite, ideal for a self-contained family reunion.
The team is also excited to announce other developments, including the launch of the brandnew Azelea Glasshouse restaurant and the addition of several new activities including axe throwing, yoga and kayaking.
Managing director Jill Chalmers said: “We are so excited to announce that we are reopening on May 17 and are particularly pleased with the levels of business we have on the books so far.
“With the launch of The Endeavour, the new Azelea Glasshouse restaurant and several new activities and experiences available to our guests, we are hopeful that we will have a busy and exciting summer ahead.”
We’ve taken bookings and we’re almost fully booked for the first 10 days
