The final battle...

-

Scotland’s political heavyweights have descended for one last push in their battleground seat.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon made her second visit to the Ayr constituency in a fortnight as the SNP target Tory John Scott.

Speaking during a visit to Troon on Sunday, Ms Sturgeon told the Post: “I’ve known John Scott a long time and he is a decent guy, but he is part of a Conservative Party which has not done well for Scotland – ever, in my opinion.”

Tory leader Douglas Ross, who went to Prestwick to drum up support for his man, said: “John has helped so many people in this constituency over 20 years, and is a hugely respected figure across parliament.”

This is a time for Scotland to come together and build a recovery that leaves no one behind.

My focus is firmly on that – creating jobs, an education catch up, rebuilding our NHS and care services, tackling the climate emergency and making sure people have a decent income and food on the table.

Nothing else should distract us.

The last thing we need right now is an argument about another referendum.

The SNP have underfunded our councils and sucked jobs out of this constituency.

We need to bring power back from Holyrood to our local communities.

For the last five years we have had an MSP who wasn’t prepared to stand up for this constituency and challenge the SNP Government when it got things wrong.

It’s time for a strong local voice - someone who is on your side.

I was born here and went to school at Girvan Primary and then Auchinleck Academy.

I still live and work in the constituency.

I want to put all the old arguments about Yes/No, Leave/Remain behind us and bring people together, united in tackling the things that really matter in everyday life.

I can promise you I will never take our area for granted, and If you elect me to go to Holyrood, we will all go together.

I believe these are good reasons to vote for me and Scottish Labour so please use both your votes for Scottish Labour and make this happen.
