Most council services open
Most South Ayrshire Council services are now fully operational again after a number ground to a halt due to the pandemic.
Ruling councillors were presented with a report on Covid-19 recovery at the Leadership Panel last week.
Up to May 4, a total of 143 council activities were‘fully operational,’69 were‘partially recovered’and 18 were ‘not recovered.’
A council‘strategic recovery group’ has been handling plans for resumption of services.
Council leader Peter Henderson, , said he is“very chuffed”with the level of recovery achieved so far.
Partially recovered services include community safety patrols and the Violence Against Women Partnership.
Employability Drop ins and non-sporting leisure event bookings are classed as not recovered yet.
Fully operational services include cleaning at schools and dealing with people who are homeless.
The council published a full list of what activities are operating as normal and those still to resume properly.
A council report said the list “provides an opportunity for governance and oversight of the status of service delivery in terms of being fully operational, partially recovered or not recovered and provides a means of tracking the phased return of services recognising national and local guidance and direction from the Scottish Government.”
It added:“This approach allows a managed resumption of services with consideration given to the internal resources required to open buildings and establish appropriate support services, such as ICT and Facilities Management, to ensure this happens effectively and safely.”
The council has also established a working group to consider its‘future operation model’- and updates will be provided to the Leadership Panel.
