Vandals smash Hub’s window

Police examine CCTV footage

- RYAN THOM

Leaders of a community hub have been left reeling after shameless yobs smashed new windows installed less than a week ago.

Two vandals ran up and then kicked the windows at Tsukure Hub on Ayr High Street last Wednesday night.

Shock footage captured on CCTV shows the two boys stop outside the Bridge Street side of the building before deciding to run and fly-kick the windows. Pictures have revealed the damage which is set to leave the charity with a costly repair bill.

The giant windows measuring 2894mm x 2234mm were fitted as part of a new radio studio for the hub’s station.

Boss Adam Short has told how the windows were only fitted last Friday.

Adam said: “I am absolutely furious to come here this morning and find this.

“It’s been less than a week since we have had these windows fitted. We are wanting to bring our radio station to the community so people in Ayr can be involved and this is what happens. “It is just disgusting to see it. “What is the youth of today coming to?

“They have walked by and thought, ‘Let’s have a good kick at this place’. I can’t understand why.”

The latest vandalism at Tsukure Hub is not the first time, with a previous attack on windows costing nearly £3000 to fix.

It comes just days after Tsukure Radio celebrated one year on the airwaves which saw a party, including Ayrshire stars of The Voice performing.

Adam added: “We will not be deterred

by vandals. It is just really frustrating and it is depressing to see yet again.”

A Police spokesperson said: “Officers in Ayr received a report of vandalism to a premises on High Street which happened around 11pm on Wednesday, June 2. A positive line of enquiry is ongoing.”
