John Stewart reveals Glenafton hope to welcome a SECOND Scotland star to Loch Park after Billy Gilmour turned heads on Saturday.

The long serving secretary joked he tried to offer Gilmour a contract after the Chelsea kid, who will be on loan at Norwich next season, watched Glens beat Whitletts 4-0 in a friendly.

But the visit of the unassuming youngster, who is close pals with a recent Glens signing, was no surprise to club officials.

Stewart said: “Billy is best friends with Sam McKee who we recently signed from Ayr United – they have been chums for years so that’s why he came to watch us.

“He signed a couple of jerseys, met the committee and posed for pictures with the fans so I don’t think he saw much of the game. I tried to offer him a deal but unfortunately he wouldn’t accept it.

“Now we hope to welcome another Scotland star to the ground. Jack Hendry, who is playing in Belgium after leaving Celtic, played in our youth teams and is going to give us a signed Scotland strip and watch us when he can. You just can’t beat the old Glens!”.

Afterwards, Gilmour headed to hometown Ardrossan to catch their game against Benburb before returning to Winton Park on Sunday to present medals to youngsters.
