Live our lives as fully as possible in 2022

Happy NewYear!

Traditionally, Christmas and New Year are times of reflection and planning ahead.

On reflection, 2021 has not been a great year for most of us.

We have all lost loved ones or friends not only to Covid, but to a wide range of other diseases including cancer, other health conditions and through others just arriving at the natural conclusion of their lives.

Although inevitably sad, we can take comfort from the happier times and memories we shared with those who have now gone and be thankful for the time we spent with them.

On a positive note, looking back over the year, we have seen unprecedented acts of selflessness, dedication, and commitment by all sections of the Scottish National Health Service, paid and unpaid Carers, Emergency Services, and other key workers.

Equally as importantly has been the kindness and care shown by Charities, volunteers, and individuals in looking after people in communities who have needed that extra help and support in these difficult times. I pay tribute to and give my sincere thanks to all who have contributed, in even a small way to making life better for a fellow human being.

Looking ahead, although we are still fighting the pandemic and it is essential that we continue to observe protective measures to keep us safe, it is important that we live our lives as fully as possible.

Therefore for 2022, let’s make realistic resolution and plans, be positive, help those less fortunate than ourselves, be kind and tolerant of others and try to enjoy life like we used to!
