Talk of the town from our social media

Hundreds of people have flocked to Troon’s big wheel since it opened on Friday. Angela Alexander

Wish Prestwick sea front was as inviting. Walked along Troon prom a couple of weeks ago and it was bustling, great childrens park, lovely crazy golf, lots of seating areas and loads on the clean beach. If Troon can do this why can’t Prestwick, would attract more visitors.

Jill Coubrough

Could see it from Prestwick last weekend when I was visiting. Views must be amazing.

A new £50,000 playpark has opened in York Street, Ayr.

James Meredith

Fantastic! But my only hope is that its going to be locked ‘out of hours’ otherwise it’ll last 10 minutes before it gets destroyed by ‘tomorrows future.’

Would have been nice to have had more things suited to younger children in the new Kincaidston play park as they have put these in this one and the one at St John’s. William John Hendren It’ll soon be turned into a drugs den, mark my words! Our park in Mossblown got an upgrade, a week after getting it, there were needles etc everywhere, and most of the equipment was graffitied!

Lynn McMorrow was left without her disabled badge for a week after it was kept by a parking attendant XMoragx XKilbridex

I bet I know which parking attendant it was! Sadly though he is right. As Mrs McMorrow is the one who holds the badge then it doesn’t cover her husband getting out the car. It is the rules. Although I do think the parking attendant could just have given a warning.

Steve Bravo

It was a breach! She wasn’t leaving the vehicle, only him, therefore it’s a breach of the conditions! If she had been getting out to use the bank, then they’d have been ok!

Jacquie Blackwood

It’s a ridiculous state of affairs when a partner can’t collect cash to allow him and his disabled partner to buy shopping without her getting out of the car.

Yeah yeah it says so in the rules but for heavens sake some folk need to get a grip.

Too many of these ‘wardens’ get drunk on the ‘power’ they attribute to themselves.

Also to lie and claim he was in a scuffle ....

Strange his body cam was off at that moment but a witness stated he stumbled.

Honestly, surely a quiet word along the lines of ‘you really shouldn’t do that’ would have been enough. Stupid rule anyway.

Lidl have been given the green light to move into the old Safeway in Troon Academy Street despite residents’ concerns about the impact on parking. Muriel Kydd

About time there is a choice for people as Morrisons have the monopoly at the moment.

Douglas Nicol

I wonder if they will repair the car park surface, its like the bloody moon there, there’s a particularly nasty hole right after the entrance.

Frances Hall

Hope it goes ahead, Morrisons need some competition in Troon.

Health chiefs have urged patients to “stop and think” before turning up at underpressure A&E departments Jamie Morton

I totally understand why this is happening, and why this advice is being issued, but patients and family know very little about medicine and cannot be relied upon to make serious medical judgement calls, especially on behalf of others..

Jan Davidson

Sad that people have been so frightened by the whole Covid scenario they actually flood our emergency rooms when it’s not an emergency

Jacqueline Mack

A solution would be for GP practices to open over 7 days and evenings. ANP staff are now in surgeries to assist with the lack of GPS and are great.

Why not change to support the NHS with a seven day solution which would support A and E.

Each practice could take it in turns to operate the service with a drop in clinic for all patients as all patient records are online

Judy and Millar Muir celebrated 60th wedding anniversary and say the secret to a long-lasting marriage is to always apologise to your spouse. Linda Leckie
