EAST AYRSHIRE COUNCIL (A70 Muirkirk Road and C23 Peesweep Brae, Lugar) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2022

On 12/07/22 the Council, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, and of all other enabling powers, made the above-named Order, which will make it unlawful for any person to drive or cause or permit to be driven any vehicle (including a pedal cycle) on the following lengths of road in Muirkirk on Saturdays and Sundays between 8am and 8pm.

A70 – Muirkirk Road – between its junction with U729 Glenmuir Road, Logan and Brehead Place, Lugar (which will also affect access to Thornwood Drive and Criagston Holm) C23 Peesweep Brae – at its junction with A70 Muirkirk Road, Lugar

Exemptions will apply for vehicles engaged on the works; emergency service vehicles and for access to properties within the closed roads (when permitted by TMOs), by reason of works to be executed on or near the road. The Order shall come into force at 08:00 hrs on 16/7/22 and will remain in force until 20:00 hrs on 28/08/22, or until the works are completed (which is expected to be after 31/7/) whichever is earlier.

Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the closure periods. Shuttle buses will operate a reduced service from Cumnock to and from Lugar and Muirkirk via the diversion route.

Vehicular access to properties will be retained but on a restricted basis. For everyone’s safety please follow the instructio­ns of the Traffic Management Operatives. Alternativ­e routes: – for A70 follow B743 Sorn Road, A76 to Dettingen Roundabout, A70 Ayr Road/New Bridge Street/ Tanyard/Barhill Road to Muirkirk Road and vice versa

For C23 Rigg Road/Peesweep Brae follow main diversion to A70 Tanyard then via B7083 to C23 Rigg Road.
