Troon flats capture all the best fun in the sun

- RYAN THOM

A set of Troon flats has the best views in town as the beach sizzled in a scorching heatwave.

Lucky residents have been enjoying the bustling shorefront from a height.

The Post was given exclusive access to one 85-year-old’s third floor balcony and the scenery did not disappoint.

Thousands of revellers could be seen out enjoying the heatwave as the mercury hit a peak 27 degrees on the Ayrshire coast.

The resident told how lucky they were to capture the fun in the sun right from their living room window.

Stunning pictures show right along the crammed South Beach Esplanade with every spot of sand taken up.

Meanwhile on the ground, visitors from as far afield as Dundee were soaking up the rays.

Families had flocked from all corners to visit the South Ayrshire beauty spot.

Kids and dogs rushed into the water to cool off as some parents lay inside tents for a spot of shade.

Ice cream vans and beach kiosks coined it in with huge queues spotted along the promenade.

For one family who had just moved from Liverpool to Glasgow - it was their first time at Troon with their little one, Luca.

The Chans headed for the Ayrshire coast after previously visiting Portobello in Edinburgh.

Johnny and Melissa took two-yearold Luca who got to work building a sandcastle.

Melissa said: “It’s been a great day. Troon has such a lovely beach - the sand is perfect for building sandcastles!”

The Faulkner family brought down dogs big and small, with Lockie and puppy Audrey basking in the sunshine.

The family, some of which were down from Dundee, came fully prepared with a tent, chairs and plenty of supplies for a BBQ.

They said: “Today has been great. We got down nice and early to get a spot and we’ll get the BBQs on later.

“The dogs are loving it, the weather is definitely taps aff. It is one of the hottest days we’ve experienced in Scotland for sure. We are all just making the most of it.

“Everyone seems to be having a good time, there’s been no bother at all.”
