Woman, 44 faces sex assault rap

She denies all five charges

- ABI SMILLIE

A woman has appeared in court facing historic sexual assault charges.

Lynette Greenop, whose address in court papers is given as HM Prison Greenock, denies various counts of sexual assault with charges spanning across eight years from 2009 to 2016.

The first charge alleges that on various occasions between November 2009 and November 2010, Greenop repeatedly touched the rear and private parts of a child, then aged between 12 and 13, both over and under their clothing.

This offence is said to have taken place at an address in Troon and an address in Ayr.

Another charge claims Greenop intentionally caused the complainer, then aged between 16 and 17, “to be present while a third party engaged in a sexual activity”.

It is alleged Greenop, 44, committed this offence on various occasions between November 2013 and November 2015 at addresses in Troon and Ayr.

Greenop also faces charges of sexually assaulting a complainer, then aged between 13 and 15, by touching them on the rear and private area, both over and under their clothing, and telling them to strip naked.

An alternative charge to this alleges Greenop “engaged in sexual activity with or towards” the complainer.

The fifth and final charge Greenop faces alleges she sexually assaulted the complainer on various occasions between April 2015 and September 2016, while the complainer was then aged between 16 and 17.

Greenop appeared at Ayr Sheriff Court last week to confirm she is maintaining her pleas of not guilty.

A trial date has been identified for late November this year.
