Beautiful Billy seeking his new home

- ABI SMILLIE

An adorable three-legged gentle giant is hoping it’s third time lucky in finding a loving owner and his forever home.

Billy, a two-year-old fawn white Saluki dog, has been in the care of the Scottish SPCA’s Ayrshire and South West centre for 174 days since he was rehomed but sadly returned. He first came to the charity in May last year and had been rehomed twice but was returned on both occasions. Now long-term resident Billy is hoping third time’s a charm in finding a patient owner who will lovingly fuss over him.

Billy may only have three legs but the charity say“this certainly never holds him back”, adding that he“has plenty of energy and loves running around doing zoomies”.

And when he’s not out on his walks, Billy can be found cosied up in his bed with his toys enjoying some downtime.

Billy loves meeting people out on his walks, but he will need to be muzzled due to his sighthound instinct and slight reactivity to dogs. He would also need to be the only pet in the house and would be best suited to living with adults only. The charity also say:“Although a sweetheart in nature, Billy can be a bit stubborn, therefore, he would benefit from a firm but patient owner who will work on his positive reinforcement training to settle him into his new family life A house, bungalow or ground-floor flat would be needed, as although Billy does not struggle with his mobility at the moment, the need for additional stairs on a daily basis would be an unnecessary strain long term.”
