Fun cycle ride for a charities

-

CYCLISTS have been urged to hit the saddle for “On Yer Bike” - one of Anglesey’s biggest annual charity events.

Since its launch three years ago the ride has raised £7,300 for island charities.

Organisers Llangefni and Holyhead Rotary Clubs are looking for a record breaking year and a big turnout on July 2. This time they have highlighted Wales Air Ambulance for support.

Riders setting off from Plas Arthur Leisure Centre in Llangefni will have a choice of three routes of 14, 26 or 50 miles.

Event organiser Bob Mason of Llantrisant said: “It is a ride suitable for all ages and abilities, experience and speed, it is not a race.

“Last year more than 100 riders took part, and apart from the sponsor money donated by supporters to the riders, it an enjoyable social occasion. Routes through the beautiful and varied countryside of Anglesey will be signposted and marshalled and there will be checkpoints for refreshments and water.

“For those who have ridden with us before the two longer routes are each a little different.”

All profits will go into the club’s charity trust fund. Last year both Ysgol y Bont, Llangefni and Anglesey First Responders towards the cost of defibrillating equipment.

Inquiries about the ride should be made to Llangefni Rotary Club on 01407 730604, 840907 or 07771 864023. Email: onyerbike@tesco.net
