Festival with a big heart for all the family

-

ALITTLE festival with a big heart promises a weekend of amazing music, beautiful arts and inspiring poetry, in a sleepy meadow in the hills of North Wales, and plenty of family-friendly fun.

Ymuno Festival takes place on July 1-4, at Bryn Ffanigl Ganol Farm, near Abergele, with an extensive lineup of musicians, and a diverse range of activities, so there should be something for all the family.

The musicians include Ruthin Band Yr Adar, Midlands folk collective Boat to Row, threepiece Liverpool acoustic folk/ rock combo Lunacorona, folk trio The Jaywalkers, and Caernarfon singer-songwriter Sera Owen, and many, many more, with resident DJs playing tropical grooves, eclectic beats, electro swing and funk.

On a more high-energy note is the international musical collective The Turbans, who bring together exciting traditional near-eastern and eastern European styles and original compositions, to create a modern and energetic performance with reverence for its ancient roots.

With members gathered from countries such as Turkey, Bulgaria, Israel, Iran, Italy, Greece and England, the influences are really varied, and The Turbans are a progressive name on the London music scene, mixing vibrant spontaneity and authenticity with multi-genre instrumental and vocal excellence.

Check the festival website for more information on the artistes performing.

The activities on offer include Creative Recycling (find how you can use items as diverse as analogue televisions and broken plastic chairs, as well as more common items), Dr Zig’s Giant Bubbles, silver workshops with Karen Williams Jewellery, learn to make a den with Two Little Acorns, or de-stress with Laughter Yoga, and there are many more activities on offer.

Food and drink is available on site, at reasonable prices, as the organisers always wanted Ymuno to stand out as a festival where food and drink are affordable ( no silly festival prices here!). The Great Orme Brewery, which hosts the bar, is one of the festival’s sponsors.

The festival has a campsite, and limited spaces for caravans, camper vans and motorhomes, but it is advised that you book early for these to avoid disappointment, as the meadow is filling up fast!

The weekend ticket includes parking, camping for three nights, complimentary cooked breakfast, and access to all the live music, poetry and children’s activities.

Bear in mind that dogs and glass bottles are not allowed at the festival, and that under-18s must be accompanied by an adult.
