Beaumaris set for showdown with fellow leaders Rhos
BEAUMARIS A team’s satisfying revenge home win over Colwyn Bay Legion brought with it the bonus of elevation to joint top of the North Wales Coast Bowls League’s Division A.
Captain Keith Bailey’s men currently stand alongside Rhos Park A, which gives added significance to the crunch away showdown with their title rivals this coming Saturday.
Victory over Legion at the Castle green was by an 8-4 margin.
The games ended at 6-4 in Beaumaris A’s favour and then they gained the bonus, because of the 186-169 points’ totals.
The leading solo contributors were skipper Bailey and Barry Harris, both making it by 21-11.

Holyhead were beaten by Caernarfon while in the other first-round ties Beaumaris B defeated Penygroes and Criccieth eliminated Llanfairfechan.
Beaumaris B v Llandrillo this Thursday, June 30, and Caernarfon v Criccieth, on Thursday week, July 7.
Title front-runners Bangor City were stretched by lowly-placed Benllech in a 6-4 tussle in the Anglesey/ Bangor and District Bowls League’s Monday Division last week ( June 20).
The games were shared at 4-4 but the leaders won with the aggregates 146-127 points in their favour.
Both sides benefited from a superb solo contribution, Bangor’s Paul Redmond excelling at 21-4 and Benllech’s Anne King 21-8.
Llanfairpwll had matters all their own way in the domestic derby with Academi Llanfair, piling up a 12-0 tally, with John Griffiths winning 21-6.
Beaumaris overcame Holyhead 7-3, with Kevin Fallowes winning 21-6 and the visitors’ John Prosser 21-7.
Menai Bridge were unable to prevent Criccieth from moving up to second spot by means of an 8-2 spree at the Beach Road green.

The date is fixed for Friday, July 15, with the neutral venue yet to be confirmed.
Llanfairpwll outscored Beaumaris by 28 points in the semi-final at Benllech, Geraint Booth at 21-6 and Dave Jones 21-8, with the losers’ Kevin Fallowes at 21-11.
Bangor secured their progress over Criccieth at Caernarfon by 19 points, with Jesse Buckland in front at 21-9.
Bangor City’s Gwerydd Buckland is the new singles’ champion of the Anglesey/Bangor and District Bowls League, having overcome all opposition – and incessant rain – to win the annual event at Benllech’s green.
In the final, Buckland dominated 21-7 against Llanfairpwll’s Richard Harvey.
Buckland beat Geraint Williams (Llangefni) 21-5 and Harvey beat Alan Johnson (Bangor City) 21-20.
Bethesda’s green at Rachub will be the venue for the Anglesey/Bangor and District Bowls League’s annual pairs’ competition this coming Sunday, July 3.

Caernarfon were routed 9-0 at Conwy but Criccieth were delighted with a 6-3 triumph over Llandudno A, the leaders and reigning champions.
