Sadness as missing man discovered

-

THE mother of a missing man whose body was found in woods has paid tribute to her beloved son, saying she’ll miss his “gentleness and kindness”.

Michael Bryn Jones, 38, has been missing from his Llandudno home since April 2.

Police said the body of a man was found just after 7pm on Tuesday near Caerhun, Bangor. Although it had not yet been formally identified, a spokesman said it was believed to be that of Michael Bryn Jones, and his death is not thought to be suspicious.

Michael’s mother Eileen Slinn said on Tuesday she is certain the body is her son. “I knew in my heart of hearts that this was going to be the conclusion, and sadly it has become true,” she said.

“We will all miss Michael’s cheeky smile and his kindness and gentleness. He’d go out of his way to help anyone.

“Whenever I’d shop in Llandudno people would come up to me and tell what a kind person he was.

“When I had heart failure, Michael nursed me for three years. He cooked for me, fed and bathed me – he was a lovely son.”

Michael was a huge Welsh rugby and football fan and his brother Gavin poignantly posted on Facebook on Monday after Wales played Russia in the Euros: “Where are you bro? I hope you just witnessed the greatest performance by a Welsh football team ever! Can’t believe your not celebrating with me.”

Eileen added: “He would have been so proud of the Welsh team, he would have been in his element. I now want the Welsh team to go all the way and win in tribute for Michael.”

Eileen, of Craig y Don, Llandudno, said finding Michael’s body will give the family some kind of closure. “I’ve been really struggling with not knowing what had happened to him,” she said. At least now we know.

“What Michael would like now is for all the family to be together and to celebrate the good times – we are planning to do that.”

Eileen added: “I’d like to thank everyone who helped to try and find Michael from the bottom of my heart – their support has kept the family going.”
