Llangoed come from behind to retain top spot

-

LLANGOED and District came from behind to defeat improved Bodorgan Juniors 3-1 and retain the leadership of the Kon-X Wales Anglesey League.

With 35 minutes on the clock Bodorgan hitman Luke Allaway raced on to a through ball to leave himself in a one-on-one with the keeper and slot home in style.

The hosts found their rhythm and had the better of the second half.

A corner swung over found Carwyn Williams at the far post from where he headed it back towards the penalty spot and where Craig Jones steadied himself before nodding in the equaliser.

Llangoed took the lead when Jamie Roberts played the ball into Craig Jones and he fired in from the edge of the box.

The visitors were hanging on now and close to the end another corner kick found substitute Owain Roberts, who headed the third to settle the argument.

Holyhead Town are three points behind Llangoed but have two games in hand after thrashing Pentraeth Reserves 4-1 last Saturday.

It took just 14 minutes for Town to take the lead, when they were awarded a penalty and sureshot Tom Hadley stuck it away.

The advantage was quickly doubled, Barry Roberts clipping a delightful ball for Shaun Davies to race on to and beat the keeper.

Pentraeth pulled one back but Hadley made it 3-1 at half time.

The visitors were much more competitive in the second period, but Hadley sealed the spoils by completing his hat-trick via a 25-yard free kick.

Third-placed Valley entertained a Bryngwran Bulls side that just lacks consistency, only to find it was one of their good days and they took an early lead through Matty Roberts.

The Bulls added a second when an Andrew Bailey shot found the net. The goal was later credited to team-mate Dylan Jones, who was quick to point out it took a deflection of his knee.

Valley were quick to respond, Jerome Sillence pulling one back.

The visitors were enjoying plenty of possession and Nathan Lewis pounced in a crowded box to restore the two-goal advantage.

And Bailey did get his name on the list of scorers with the fourth.
