Miley seals first away win with a late clincher

- Football: Bangor City

ANTHONY MILEY’S added time header ensured Bangor City claimed their first away league victory of the season with a 3-2 success at Cefn Druids last Friday.

A high-tempo opening period saw the Ancients take a surprise lead on seven minutes when centre-back Matthew Eckersley curled an effort beyond the reach of Citizens guardian Connor Roberts.

With 24 minutes played Jordan Davies and Brayden Shaw combined well down the left flank.

Young Wrexham loanee Davies skipped past two defenders into the box before unleashing an unstoppable shot into the roof of the Druids net to equalise for City.

Both sides continued to threaten as the game ebbed and flowed in a frenetic opening half, but it stayed 1-1 up to the interval.

On 54 minutes, Bangor’s leading goalscorer Daniel Nardiello produced a neat turn and shot which rattled goalkeeper Danny Lloyd’s crossbar, before Shaw shaved an upright with a 20-yard attempt just moments later.

Prolonged Bangor pressure reaped its reward on 65 minutes when Gary Roberts burst into the Druids area and lashed home a powerful shot.

Just four minutes later, a long punt down the centre was latched onto by Ashley Ruane, who restored parity to make it 2-2 despite the combined efforts of Connor Roberts and defender Sam Hart to prevent the goal.

As the game entered the closing 10 minutes, Shaw came close once again, hitting the Druids post.

Two minutes into added time, Miley rose above keeper Lloyd to head Shaw’s delivery swept in from the right flank to make it 3-2 for Bangor and win the match.
