Magnificent seven is top reward for Llan

-

CARWYN WILLIAMS struck a hat-trick as Llangoed and District returned to the Kon-X Anglesey League summit with a 7-0 victory at Bethesda Athletic Reserves.

In just the third minute a searching ball from Charlie McKenna fell perfectly for Craig Jones to lob over the glovesman from some 30 yards.

Soon after Wayne Thomas supplied the ball on a plate for Williams to make it 2 -0.

Jones added a third on 27 minutes when he majestically headed home a Callum Graves pin-point cross.

Then Jones was given the perfect opportunity to complete his hat-trick with the award of a penalty but his effort rattled the crossbar..

Llangoed soon made amends and it was Williams’ turn to notch his sec- ond, tucking away from close range.

The second half began with Bethesda finally competing but despite their effort they were still unable to register an attempt on target and on 50 minutes Llangoed introduced two substitutes who made an immediate impact.

On 52 minutes Darren Edmunds latched onto a neat through ball from Lewis Hughes to calmly sidefoot past the keeper and on 55 Llion Roberts broke through the home back-line and rifled a shot into the roof of the net for his first ever senior goal.

The scoring was not finished there as Williams went on to complete a treble for a second successive week, putting him level with Jones on 18 in the top-scorer stakes.

Mynydd Llandegai Reserves dished out a 7-1 thrashing of Bodorgan.

The visitors’ only net-finder saw Luke Allaway’s strike on the stroke of half-time reduce the arrears after Alex Griffiths and Liam Owen had put Mynydd two-up.

Just five minutes after the restart, Owen headed his second.

Ten minutes later and Richard Hayes scored the fourth before Owen was celebrating another hat-trick.

An own goal made it six before David Hayes unleashed a screamer from 20 yards.

In the Bwlch Car Boot Cup, Valley edged it 3-2 over Bryngwran Bulls.

The hosts were a goal down on 12 minutes to a Dylan Jones strike.

As the game settled, Valley came more it and soon had their noses in front with goals from Ashley Hughes, heading home from a corner and Danny Roberts with a long range power drive before the break.

The second half saw the Bulls battle to get back into the game but also leaving themselves vulnerable at the back and Ryan Heywood grabbed a third to give Valley a 3-1 cushion.

The goal Bulls pulled back was the best of the game. When James Ryan picked up the ball there seemed little danger to the hosts but after weaving his way past defender after defender he found the net with a fine solo goal and made for an exciting finish.

Pentraeth Reserves progressed in the NWCFA Junior Cup with a 2-0 verdict at St Asaph Youth, Chris Turtle and Iolo Owen getting their goals.
