Champs set hot pace at the top of league

CHAMPIONS Menai Bridge top Gwynedd and Anglesey Winter League Division One with a 100 per cent record after last week’s 38-24 victory over Menai Thunder.

Bridge made it four straight wins at the expense of Thunder, who competed well in nearly all quarters. Player of the Match: Bridge - Kathryn Hughes; Thunder - Beth Williams.

Second-place Arfon Ladies dominated in a 35-11 defeat of bottom side Moniars. PoM: Arfon - Kath Caine; Moniars - Cerys Jones.

Holyhead produced a big last quarter to beat Penygroes Piws 24-20. Caergybi led just 18-17 entering the last. PoM: Holyhead - Sue Evans; Piws - Elin Evans.

Primos edged a 19-17 success over Subway Warriors in another close contest. PoM: Primos - Claire Coles-Williams; Subway - Tasha Jones.

Tim o Walis lead Division Two with a perfect 4-0 record after sweeping aside Porthmadog 25-4. PoM: Walis - Llinos Griffiths; PoM: Porthmadog - Catrin Williams.

Llangefni pipped Celts 17-15 in a cracker where the losing side steadily nibbled into the Anglesey team’s lead but just came up short in the end. Cefni’s 7-2 advantage after the opener proved quite decisive. PoM: Llangefni - Mali D’Arcy; Celts - Cadi Jones.

In a battle of the bottom two, Llanrug overcame Mon 12-8 in a low-scoring affair.

Mon led 4-1 after the opener, but found themselves 8-5 down by half time. PoM: Mon - Yasmin Innes; Llanrug - Beca Llwyd.

Red Sox and Amigos shared a 13-13 draw. Amigos were ahead by a point at the completion of each quarter until the end. PoM: Red Sox - Bidd Webb; Amigos - Sara Gwyn.
