AMLWCH CANOE CLUB: Meets in Amlwch pool 8.15pm-9.30pm. If you would like to try kayaking the club allows three Taster Sessions at £5 per person per session. Minimum age 8 and conditions apply to under-16s, parent/carers must stay in attendance for the sessions. Suggest participants wear a T-shirt, the sessions will involve capsizing in a kayak. FRIENDS OF THE INDUSTRIAL HERITAGE TRUST: Following the successful Christmas meal out to the Lastra Farm Hotel, the group had a break in January and are now to resume regular monthly meetings. Meetings are every 4th Thursday of the month and are held in winter in The Dinorben Hotel in Amlwch and in summer at the Sail Loft in Amlwch Port. Dr Shaun Russell brought the flora and fauna of the Falkland Islands to life in a presentation which revealed the variety and beauty of the plant and animal life he had encountered there. Paul Roger spoke on the artistic work of Charles Tunnicliffe who painted birds and animals from his home at Shorelands on Anglesey. INNER WHEEL: On Monday February 6 clun had the first full meeting of the year, a meal and a talk from ‘Dementia Friends’. Hayley Wood began by highlighting stereotypical attitudes to the disease and explained the role of a dementia friend. The talk raised issues that will impinge upon most people’s lives at some point.
