Double revenge for Trearddur’s terriers

-

TREARDDUR Bay United served up a double dose of revenge as they recorded victories over Llangefni Town and Pwllheli.

The Anglesey side had lost to both those sides in their previous two games.

Last Saturday saw the reigning Welsh Alliance Division One champions triumph 3-1 against a Pwllheli side they had suffered a 4-0 defeat against seven days earlier.

However, Trearddur suffered a bad start when Kyle Goodfellow volleyed the Llyn Peninsula team ahead in the 16th minute.

Bay stepped up the tempo with Ian Williams delivering into the box, but Jordie Murphy was unable to keep the ball down.

Murphy then did well to beat a defender and send in a low cross, but no home player could make contact.

Pwll keeper Morgan Jones produced a good save with his feet and reached the loose ball just ahead of Ry Lees.

The pressure was building and the equaliser arrived on 42 minutes.

Williams squared across goal to Murphy, whose shot cannoned back off the crossbar and fortunately fell kindly back to him to finish into the bottom corner.

Just before the break, Luke John Roberts blasted a 30-yard rocket that was superbly saved by Jones.

At half time Bay brought on striker Asa Thomas for Danny Connolly.

It was Pwllheli who had the first chance of the second period when an 18-yard strike forced Elliot Smith to tip over.

Murphy went close before doing well to win possession back down the right and passing to Roberts, who calmly stroked the ball into the corner of the net to make it 2-1 on 55 minutes.

Pwllheli should have levelled in the 70th minute when they were awarded a penalty, but Smith produced a great save.

Bay pushed to make the most of that let-off when Myles Jones, pulling the strings in midfield, fed a delicate chip forward to Murphy, who brought the best out of keeper Jones.

Pwllheli were far from done and Sean O’Toole was forced to make a goal-line clearance to thwart a goalbound header.

The counter attack found Joe Donovan clear through on goal but he failed to connect properly with his shot.

The killer goal finally arrived in the 90th minute when Donovan played in Myles Jones, who was foiled by a Morgan Jones stop.

However, the loose ball came to Donovan, who made up for his earlier miss by slotting in the third goal for Bay,

In the last attack of the game, Thomas’ powerful shot was well saved by Jones.

Last Tuesday, Bay upset the odds with a 2-0 victory at Llangefni Town thanks to late goals from Myles Jones and Luke Roberts.
