It’s decision time

-

IN just over a week, voters on Anglesey will go to the polls to choose the makeup of their county council over the next four years.

On May 4, a total of 65 candidates will endeavour for one of the 30 available seats across 11 wards, all of which representing a political party or as independent candidates.

The Mail contacted all four parties fielding candidates, as well as the independent group that currently controls the authority, and asked about their aims, ambitions and how the council should be run. RESTORING Anglesey’s Good Name’ was our promise in 2013 and we’ve succeeded.

We have shown political maturity over the past four years, giving the council a steady platform.

Maintaining services will be challenging, but with solid and fair leadership we can do this.

We wholly believe that every child deserves every chance to reach their full potential. We will support teachers to ensure the very best standards and work with partners to ensure young people are equipped with vital workplace skills.

We’ll work with the health service to ensure people can live independent lives in their communities, and support carers.

Continuing to respond to the housing need by building and supporting community and affordable housing, we also plan to help first time buyers by using the council tax premiums.

Securing benefits for local businesses from large scale projects is vital, and to promote and create opportunities via apprenticeship schemes. We oppose more overhead pylons and will work to protect Anglesey’s natural landscape that’s so vital to tourism.
