MAN IN COURT OVER CRASH THAT KILLED MUM OF TWO

A 30-YEAR-OLD man has appeared in court charged over the death of a mother-of-two killed in a road crash.

Barry John Slaymaker, of Maes Meurig, Gwalchmai, Anglesey, is charged with causing the death of Susan Owen by dangerous driving.

Slaymaker, defended by Eiliam Williams, and wearing a blackack jumper and jeans, spoke only to provide his date of birth and address at Caernarfon Magistrate­s Court on Thursday. No plea was entered.

The matter was sent to Caernarfon Crown Court, where a plea hearing will be e held on May 22. A bid for unconditio­nal bail was approved db by magistrate­s.i

Mrs Owen (inset), 50, from Pentre Berw near Gaerwen, was driving a white BMW when she was in collision with a Volkswagen Transporte­r on the B4547 at Pentir near Bangor on September 23 last year.

Paying tribute at the time, Mrs Owen’s husband, Rem, said the loss had left a “void” in his life.

At her funeral, which was attended by hundreds who lined the streets of Llangefni, donations were welcomed to the specially set up Sue Owen Fund and the Hergest Unit at Ysbyty Gwynedd, where she worked.
