Best dressed window winner

-

A Welsh-themed window competition was held as part of the St David’s Day celebrations in Bangor this year. The organisers of the St David’s Day parade, Menter Iaith Bangor and BID Bangor, invited all the shops and businesses along the High Street and in Upper Bangor to take part in the competition and last week the winners, Age Cymru, were presented with a certificate along with a prize of two tickets for Zip World Velocity generously donated by the Bethesda attraction. Gwen Aspden, Assistant Manager at the Age Cymru shop on the High Street, said the staff were surprised and delighted with their success. “We do make an effort to dress the window for different occasions throughout the year including Easter, Christmas, Valentine’s Day and Halloween. Our volunteers help us, and artist Esme Livingston made the map of Wales which we used as a background to the St David’s Day window.” The winning window also included a mannequin dressed in a Welsh lady costume, several red items of clothing, a red dragon and various Welsh books and other goods. Menna Baines, Chair of Menter Iaith Bangor; three members of the Age Cymru Bangor shop staff, including Gwen Aspden, Assistant Manager, holding the certificate; The Mayor of Bangor (Coun. Dewi Williams), Karen Griffith, Manager of the Business Department at Coleg Menai; Haydn Daves, Chair of Bangor BID
