TRAGEDY AS BODY OF YOUNG FATHER IS FOUND

FRIENDS and former colleagues have paid tribute to a young dad found dead on the banks of the Menai Strait.

The body of Johnathan Peter Edwards, known as Jono, was found on Tuesday night, April 25.

The 21-year-old married father-of-one, originally from Llangefni, had gone missing from his home in Caernarfon on March 19.

Mr Edwards worked at McColl’s shop in Bontnewydd and at McDonald’s, Caernarfon, where staff had spoke of their hope he would be found.

Alan Jones, a manager at the McDonald’s branch sent his condolence­s to Mr Edward’s loved ones.

He said: “It’s very sad news. We are all thinking about the family. He was a really great lad who always got on with everybody when we worked teogether. He always tried to make everybody happy.”

Anglesey and Llangefni councillor Nicola Roberts said: “I know the family and sympathise greatly with them in their huge loss. It has been a very difficult time and my heart goes out to them.”

Caernarfon County Cllr Ioan Thomas said his thoughts were with the family at what is a “very difficult time after a long period of worry”.

Sergeant Rhys Gough at Caernarfon police station said: “Our thoughts are very much with Johnathan’s family and on their behalf I’d ask their privacy be respected at this very difficult time.”

More than 200 people posted their condolence­s on the death of Mr Edwards on the Daily Post Facebook pages.

Sharon Williams said: “So sad rip angel fly high shine bright thinking of his wife and children & family while Patricia Phillips said: “Condolence­s to his family, so very sad.”

The death is not being treated as suspicious and HM Coroner for North West Wales Dewi Pritchard-Jones has been notified.
