-

BANGOR will target a third straight victory in the North Wales League Premier Division when they welcome champions Llandudno to Tŷ Newydd this Saturday.

And Menai Bridge are sure to have a three-timer in their sights when they travel to Llanrwst.

Bangor and Bridge occupy the top two places in the table after both were victorious last weekend.

All-rounder Francois Mostert hit a ton in Bangor’s 14-1 success at Mochdre.

The Citizens opted for first knock and amassed 281-7 off 50 overs, Mostert topping the chart with 109 and sharing in a third-wicket stand of 190 with Nadeem Rehman (75).

Opener David Winter added a useful 31.

In response, Mochdre were bowled out for 204, Gareth W Edwards collecting 3-40, Mostert 2-24, Tomos Davies 2-27 and Winter 2-44 for the winners.

Promoted St Asaph began the season with a huge win over Llanrwst, but came a cropper at Menai Bridge.

Put into bat, Saints were rolled over for just 88 in 23.5 overs, Zachary Ringrose scooping 4-37 and left-arm spinner Ashley Wood 3-3 from five.

Bridge made their target easily, fin- ishing 91-2 in just 20 overs, skipper Dion Holden unbeaten on 38 in a 14-1 outcome.

Bethesda failed to pick up a point in their 149-run home hammering at the hands of Northop.

Invited to bat, the Flintshire side chalked up 199-5, Gareth Jones with 3-62 for the hosts.

Pesda could only muster 50 all out in reply, just Gareth V Edwards (27) managing double figures.

Bethesda are away to Gwersyllt Park this Saturday.

Bodedern began their campaign on a winning note with a nine-wicket home caning of Castell Alun in the 1st XI Second Division.

The Anglesey side inserted the opposition and it proved a good decision as the Mold area travellers were dismissed for just 107, Dewi Hood taking 2-6, Gareth Thomas 2-15 and Barry Lander 2-17.

Boded then breezed to 108-1 off a mere 15 overs, Matthew Jackson 67 not out and Carl Jones unbeaten on 29, to seal a 14-1 points verdict. The islanders visit Buckley this Saturday.

In the 2nd XI Premier Division, Menai Bridge slumped 13-2 at Picture: STEVE LEWIS Northop. The hosts set 171-6, Phil Smith 2-14 and James Jones 2-37, and in response the Bridge were limited to 112-7, Jones 41 and Paul Lucas 27.

Bangor CC completed a great weekend when the third team thrashed visitors Abergele by 80 runs in the Sunday 3rd XI Division.

Inserted by the opposition, the Citizens posted 177-7 off 40 overs, Jamie Davies leading the charge with 74 not out, backed up by 37 from Brad Wilson.

Gele were then bowled out for 97, with Aiden Kelly and Hugh Kelly both claiming 3-7 while Bethan Hughes snapped up 3-18. Points: 14-1.

Menai Bridge thirds did even better as they whitewashed Buckley 15-0 at Tyn-y-Caeau.

The visitors put the Anglesey side into bat and must have regretted it as the islanders amassed 238-7 off 40 overs.

Cefyn Owen (67) and skipper Gareth Riley (59 not out) were the chief destroyers for the hosts.

Buckley were then sent packing for a disappointing 79.

Mathew Jones was the top home bowler with 4-18 off nine overs, Ethan Andrews scooping 2-11 and Andy Goodwin 2-23.
