GWYL MADAM WEN: At the Iorwerth Arms over the weekend, May 26-29. Planned events include a local talent night (May 26), a concert by Dafydd Iwan with support by Beth Frazer (May 27) and a Rock Night with White Ether and The Glitches (May 28). The Festival culminates in the showing of the 1982 film ‘Madam Wen’ at 6pm by special permission of S4C and the Welsh Film Board after a guided walk on Monday May 29. The guided walk of 6 miles will take walkers past the home of WD Owen and some of the places named in the novel, and will start from the Iorwerth Arms at 1.30pm after a short lecture on WD Owen/Madam Wen by Mr JR Williams, at 1pm. Rumour has it the Madam Wen may well make an appearance on her white steed!

TABLE TENNIS: Cemaes Bay Table Tennis Social Club is a small group, who meet on a Tuesday between 7.30pm-9.30pm at Cemaes Bay village hall. There are three tables and all equipment is provided. SEA AWARE: A Sea Awareness Day has been arranged by the Cemaes Bay RNLI committee, to take place on Cemaes Bay pier on bank holiday Sunday May 28 starting at 10.30am. Representa­tives from the coastguard­s and coastal watch will be available to give advice on safety issues. The Holyhead Lifeboat is due to arrive at noon. Stalls along the pier will include Tea/ coffee, RNLI souvenirs, raffles, tombola and bric-a-Brac/books. All proceeds in aid of the RNLI. CEMAES BAY NSPCC: will host its annual Village Hall “Bric-a-Brac” shop on Bank Holiday Monday May 29 and Tuesday May 30. The shop will be open in the Village Hall on both days from 10.30am until 4pm. There will be many stalls with a large variety of merchandis­e available and also some raffles. Come along, and give your support to the NSPCC. You may possibly discover something you always wanted as new items will be on display. Admission is Free and drinks will also be available.

HOLYHEAD CANCER SUPPORT GROUP: Is a registered charity set up to offer support to those who are suffering or recovering from CANCER. Meetings take place at the Penucheldr­e Centre in Millbank in Holyhead on Wednesdays, 11am -3.30pm. A variety of activities and therapies are offered in a pleasant, friendly atmosphere. Transport can be arranged to bring people to and from the venue by prior arrangemen­t. The group has outings to places of interest during the spring and summer.
