PARKINSON’S UK: Norman Hughes, Crime Prevention Officer, North Wales Police gave a talk on “Safety in the Community” with advice on various aspects of keeping safe in our homes and beyond. Recently retired Chairman Tom Alun Roberts was well enough to be present, and two members of the Holyhead Parkinson’s Group and two new members were also welcomed. GWYNGYLL WI: After the business part of the meeting, Dr John Gorham gave an illustrate­d talk about wild and cultivated cacti. Cacti evolved about 60 million years ago when the continents divided, and many species have very vibrant colours. Night flowering species have large flowers which tend to last only one night. The next meeting will be at the WI Hall at 7.30pm on Thursday, July 6 when Dewi Owen will speak about the work and history of the RVS. Visitors are welcome.
