HEADBANGERS’ BALL
A weekend of the best unsigned rock and metal music from the North West
YOU can catch some of the finest new rock acts from North Wales, and from across the UK in a threeday festival specialising in Heavy Metal, Rock and Metal music taking place this month.
Pentre Fest takes place at Mcleans Pub, Chemistry
Lane, Pentre, Deeside, from Friday June 23 until Sunday, June 25, in association with McLeans Pub Live, Goodfor Audio Entertainment, LA1 Audio & Impact Zone on Radio Deeside.
The lineup on Friday, from 7pm-11.30pm, includes North Wales alternative melodic groove metal band Moose, Liverpool thrash metal combo Reaper, Liverpool-based Scare Tactics, a groove metal band bringing back a slice of old school metal with a whole new approach.
London-based Heretic Order describes its music as heavy metal, evil rock ‘ n’ roll, and horror metal.
On a more light-hearted (and sillier) note is comedy punk metal outfit Footprints In The Custard, which lists “Acting more metal than we are”, crossdressing and bears among its interests. Prepare to end the evening with plenty of silliness in exceedingly bad taste.
Saturday’s proceedings kick off at noon, and will run until 11.30pm, with Bangor-based dirtypop outfit Nexxux Empire, followed by Mexican Sludge Cartel Los Muchachos.
Denbigh-based Bad Earth deliver a high-energy, no nonsense, live performance, and are working on their debut album. Other bands on Saturday include Belfast-based thrash/heavy metal outfit Donum Dei, Redwood Avenue from Pwllheli and Manchesterbased Impavidus, Incinery (which promises to hit you with a fast, aggressive and uncompromising feast of neck-snapping riffs and face-shredding solos), as well as others.
Sunday’s events run from 1-10pm, with a line-up including grind’n’roll outfit Emissaries of Syn, corrosive rock’n’roll from Merseyside-based Chemical Kate, Spreading The Disease metal band, Master Charger, Witch Tripper, Deified, Groove Metal Monkeys from Dudley Left For Red, and special guests, the thrash metal pioneers Virus who formed in 1986. The festival closes with Chester’s Dead Is Forever who are committed to noise.
