Who wears the trousers in this marriage?

A NEWLYWED couple have celebrated their wedding by taking part in a 130 mile walk around Anglesey’s coast.

Liam and Sandra Kearns got married in her home city of Bangor on Saturday June 17, just two days before embarking on an exhausting challenge for charity which even saw the groom walk the entire coast in a wedding dress.

The breathless couple arrived back in Menai Bridge, exactly a week after they set off from the town’s Victoria Hotel.

Liam, 55, originally from Dublin but now living in Bangor, said: “The idea came about six months ago while having a pint at the local, although Sandra was adamant I wasn’t to wear her wedding dress while doing the walk!

“In fact, wearing a dress actually helped as it kept me cool along the way,” he laughed.

“Thankfully it was only the first part of our honeymoon and we’re setting off later this week on a slightly more relaxing trip to Portugal.”

The couple got engaged on the Stena Adventurer half way between Ireland and Wales in March last year, where they were invited to the bridge where they met the ship’s captain and crew.

“After first meeting at a funeral in 2009, we had a long distance relationship between Ireland and Wales and regular travellers between Dublin and Holyhead.

“But I’m settled in north Wales now, and taking part in the walk has given me a new appreciation of just how beautiful the area is.

“The Anglesey coastal path is a real asset that should be promoted at every opportunity.”

The couple decided to raise money for the St David’s Hospice in memory of Sandra’s sister, Christine Dixon, who passed away following a cancer battle in 2 2015, aged 60.

Liam added: “They do such f fantastic work under very difficult circumstances, we felt we had to do something t to thank them.”
