Henry inquest opened
AN inquest into the death of a father of two found unconscious outside a nightclub has been formally opened.
Esinkumo Ayabowei, 27, also known as Henry and Romeo, was discovered near Peep, Bangor, following reports of an attack during the earlyarly hours of April 1.
He died the he following day in a specialist st trauma unit at the Royal al Stoke Hospi- tal.
Opening and adjourning the inquest in Caernarfon, coroner Dewi wi Pritchard d Jones said he had been informed by police that Mr Ayabowei,owei, of Llangefni, had been assaulted.d
A post mortem examination was carried out and the coroner said Dr Brian Rodgers found Mr Ayabowei had died of a severe blunt force injury to the head.
“Details of Dr Rodgers’ findings have been made available to all interested parties, including the prosecution and defence,” he said.
“I have been served with a notice by the Crown Prosecution Service that a person has been charged with a homicide offence arising from the death of Mr Ayabowei and that proceedings are pending in the crown court.” Adjourning the inquest, Mr Jones said the crown court hearing would take over the coroner’s investigation int into the death. “I shall thereforeth suspend mym investigation un until after the crow crown court hearing and I shall rev review it after th the conclusion of the trial. “It is u unlikely there w will be a full in inquest hearin ing,” he added. T The inquest hea heard Mr Ayab Ayabowei was born in Nigeria, was a ci civil servant at the DepartmentDep of Work and Pensions,i and had played football for a number of local teams. A series of fundraisers were organised on Anglesey, Bangor and beyond to support his partner, Melicia, and their young daughters. Kieren Terence Roberts, 26, of Penrhyn Avenue, Maesgeirchen, Bangor, has been accused of Mr Ayabowei’s murder and a trial is due to be held in October.
