NG Road Racing is back at the Circuit

-

NG Road Racing returns to Anglesey Circuit for rounds 10 and 11 of its 2017 club championships this coming weekend.

These legs of the 14-round season are critical to anyone who has half an eye on one of the coveted class championships, but also puts them in a tricky situation - do they risk all, and keep pushing for points, or do they sit back and see what their challengers are doing?

The nimble and fast 250 two-stroke GP derived bikes are perfectly suited to the circuit layout, so expect great action, with three proven champions in Ant Hodson, Philip Atkinson and Dan Jackson vying for the 2017 title.

Keep an eye too on Simon Hunt, who heads the NG Cup series with an impressive 2017 record of 10 wins from 14 starts.

The big superbikes are fast at Trac MÔn, but can be a handful around the top reaches of the circuit including the infamous Corkscrew.

Josh Day continues his rich vein of form on his Kawasaki ZX10, but Peter Carr also on a ZX10, Chris Pope and Michael Blank on Yamaha R1s, plus Suzuki riders Nick Williamson and Sean Hennessey will be hoping to take the fight to Day.

Billy Mellor holds the fastest NG lap at the circuit at one minute 08.11 seconds, which equates to 81.92mph, set in August last year when he was on his BMW S1000R.

NG is again hosting the UK rounds of the European Moto E series for the innovative all electric powered bikes.

Multiple Moto E winner Daley Mathison has been the man to beat on the Nottingham University bike for the last two seasons.

Power conservation for the rider will be tough here with Anglesey’s great elevation changes, but the series has been on Mon for the last couple of years so they do at least have data.

Adding extra interest to the weekend NG Road Racing is again running and promoting the British National series for 125cc and 250cc GP machinery.

This is the only place in the UK that you will see these ex-GP machines racing for a full British Championship title backed by the Auto Cycle Union (the sport’s governing body in the UK).

The full gamut of race bikes will be out this weekend - Streetstock, Preinjections, GP45’s, Ducati Desmo Dues, Mini Twins, Super Twins and Sound of Thunder, so there is something for every racer and spectator alike.

The events take place this Saturday and Sunday at the popular venue.
