Hat-trick hero Ryan hits bullseye in Bulls’ win

-

BRYNGWRAN Bulls celebrated a resounding 4-1 victory at Valley in the Anglesey League’s Rowlands Tree Services Elias Cup quarter finals.

It was a bad day for holders Valley, whose main tormentor was Bulls’ hat-trick star James Ryan.

Valley started against the wind and were often unable to create the killer ball for the strikers.

Many times Bryngwran broke and got the ball into the box, but keeper Justin Hughes was confident and collected any ball entering his area.

Valley’s only chances of the first half came from two free kicks, first Mark Hamblin was on target only for the Bulls keeper Roy Sayle to collect comfortably and then Jordie Lees hit one over the bar.

Bryngwran’s chances came direct from corners, one whipped in and narrowly missing the post and then again from the right hand side, only for the ball to be deflected onto the upright and cleared away.

After a goalless first period, the second half was more entertaining,

On 51 minutes Valley finally broke through.

Justin Williams, who had been running at the full back numerous times, finally made it count and after beating two men laid off to winger Marc Wilson, who ended a five-game goal drought with a left-foot finish. Valley’s celebrations were short as soon after a quick double saw them 2-1 down.

Wilson linked well with Nik Kontodious on the left and after beating one man squared to Mike Williams, who hit his shot straight to Sayle.

Again the Bulls pressed and bagged another two to make it 4-1.

Ryan notched three goals for the visitors to take his season’s haul to 21, Dale Jones adding a single.

Arriva progressed with a 5-1 win at Llandegfan, Scott Hughes (3), Liam Roberts and Ben Hulse sharing, Ryan Hughes replying.
