Holyhead set up last-16 Junior Cup clash with Llangoed

HOLYHEAD Town set up a last 16 tie at Llangoed and District in the NWCFA Junior Cup following last Saturday’s 5-3 second round victory at Llanfairfe­chan Town.

Asa Thomas (2), Barrie Lavelle (2) and Marc Thomas struck for the Harbourmen, Ryan Dodd (2) and Elis Jones keeping the home team from the Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League in the hunt.

Holyhead’s Thomas is now up to 25 goals for the season.

Llangoed took the spoils 6-1 at Denbigh Developmen­t, Llion Roberts 2, Mitchell Jones, Wayne Thomas, David Thomas and Jay Finter sharing the goals for the away side.

Mark Griffith (2) and Dylan Owen guided Gwalchmai to a 3-0 victory at Abergele to clinch a home meeting with holders Bro Goronwy at the next stage in what will be an all-Gwynedd League encounter.

Andy Booker was a four-goal hero for a Rhuddlan Town side which advanced with a 5-2 victory at Arriva Bangor.

Corey Taylor also netted for the Vale of Clwyd and Conwy Division One visitors, who now visit Waunfawr in round three. Scott Hughes and Liam Roberts replied for the Anglesey League hosts.
