First Hafan Cefni apartment unveiled

HAFAN Cefni’s first independent living apartment was unveiled during a recent visit to the £10m complex.
The flagship extra care housing scheme for older people is a partnership development between Anglesey Council, Tŷ Glas Housing Society, part of the Pennaf Housing Group, and the Welsh Government.
Due to open this summer, Hafan Cefni will comprise of 63 one and two-bedroom apartments with a wide range of communal facilities and landscaping on the site of the former Ysgol Y Bont School in Llangefni.
Senior Council officials and members, including Older People’s Champion, Councillor Robert Ll Jones, and Adult Social Care Board Member, Cllr Peter Rogers, were suitably impressed during a visit to see a one-bedroom show apartment.
Anglesey Council Leader and Social Services portfolio holder, Councillor Llinos Medi, said, “This exciting new extra care scheme is an important step forward for the County Council as we look to transform older adult social care on Anglesey for future generations. Our aim is to continue to develop community based services which focus on providing residents with the independence they want and high levels of care.”
Drop-in information days will be held at Llangefni library to find out more about living at Hafan Cefni: appointments can also be made to view the show apartment on Thursday and Friday, April 12 and 13 from 9.30am to 4pm; or Saturday April 14 from 9.30am to 12.30pm.
