4 in court after police drugs raid

-

FOUR people, one of them a 15-year-old youth, appeared in court charged with supplying illegal drugs.

Police raided a property in Ambrose Street, Bangor last Tuesday and arrested three people. The fourth person was arrested later. Luke Sergeant Ward, 24, and his girlfriend Courtney Lee Hughes, 19, both of Ambrose Street, Bangor but previously from Rhyl, and Lorraine Angela Roberts, 51, of Plas Glyndŵr, Bangor, appeared from custody at Caernarfon Magistrates.

Also in the dock was a 15-year youth. He cannot be identified for legal reasons. All four face a single charge of being concerned in the supply of illegal Class A drugs.

The four spoke only to confirm their names, addresses and dates of birth during the hearing. Prosecutor Diane Williams told the court the sentencing powers of the magistrates court were insufficient and asked for the case to be sent to the Crown Court. District Judge Gwyn Jones adjourned to a plea and case management hearing at Caernarfon Crown Court on April 30.

Ward and the youth made no indication what their plea would be in the higher court, but Hughes and Roberts both stated they would be denying the offence.

Applications for bail were made on behalf of each of the defendants but the judge said he was satisfied the quartet should remain in custody. A police spokesman said a large quantity of illegal drugs and cash were found during a search.
