Llangefni six clear but Boro have games in hand

-

LLANGEFNI Town moved six points clear at the Welsh Alliance Division One summit after a 5-2 victory at Pwllheli last Saturday.

Cefni had the chance to extend that lead to nine points over nearest challengers Conwy Borough when they were due to visit Mynydd Llandegai last night (Tuesday).

However, provided that game went ahead yesterday evening, Boro would then have four matches in hand over Llangefni.

Goals by Iwan Jones (2), Matthew Jones, Jack Williams and Cameron Jones gave the visitors a comfortable success at Pwllheli.

That result followed a 4-1 home win against fellow high-flyers Llandudno Albion last Tuesday. It was a first league defeat in 14 matches for the Albion.

Harri Galeotti (2), Iwan Jones and Matthew Jones booked the three points.

After yesterday, Cefni had two league fixtures remaining, at home to Llanrwst United (Saturday) and Barmouth & Dyffryn United (April 26).

The Anglesey side need to win both to maximise their chances of a record fifth Welsh Alliance title.

Meanwhile, Llangefni Town Reserves reached the semi-finals of the Lock Stock Fireworks Challenge Cup after a 3-1 win at home against Penmaenmawr Phoenix Reserves.

They were scheduled to play next at Llanberis last night.
