League going to a final day decider... again

- Anglesey Football League

THE Anglesey Football League has developed an uncanny knack of ensuring the last match of the season is a title decider.

Yet again the fixture gods have worked their magic as, this Saturday, Mynydd Tigers host Bryngwran Bulls at Bangor City’s 4G pitch at Nantporth with the championship at stake (kick-off 2.30pm).

Mynydd must win if they are to finish top, whereas Bulls need just a point to add the league crown to the Lucas Oil Cup and Dargie Cup trophies already in the bank.

Bryngwran have previously beaten Mynydd in the two cup finals aforementioned and on three other occasions this season, making it five successive wins in all.

However, the Tigers are more than capable of turning the tables if on top form. They possess the tightest defence in the league and are the third highest scorers.

Bryngwran’s 52-goal hitman James Ryan will no doubt be a key man, while the likes of regular net-finders Mike Holroyd and Herbie Hofsteede will be players to watch for Mynydd.

Last weekend’s action saw Mike Williams hit four as Valley caned Pentraeth Reserves 8-1 away, Mark Hamblin adding a hat-trick and Justin Williams a single.

Arriva versus Caergybi ended 5-5. Andy Clarke notched three for the Busmen, Liam Roberts and an own goal with the rest, Gary Jo Owen firing a treble for the visitors to move up to 54 goals for the season, Ashley Beck and Dewi Thomas the other marksmen.
