BEAUMARIS A crashed to their first defeat of the Gwynedd Seniors’ Bowls League campaign when outplayed 6-3 at Criccieth.

Beaumaris B were 8-1 conquerors of Llandudno B, with Robin Davies excelling on 21-2 and Trevor Ashenden 21-7.

Gwynedd Seniors’ League bowlers are winners at last – for the first time in two seasons – in the North Wales Inter-Leagues’ Championship, gaining a 15-11 score-line against the Clwydians from Denbighshire.

Gwynedd emerged on top overall by 13-11 games and 412-389 points.

At Benllech, the hosts were held in the games at 6-6 but established a lead of 211-189, thanks particularly to Derek Stanley’s 21-9 return and debutant Barry Harris with 21-10.

At Abergele, Gwynedd‘s line-up built a 7-5 lead in games, with the points level at 201-201.
