Leading Ladies fall to Pwllheli

LEADERS Arfon Ladies finished up well beaten by Pwllheli in the latest round of Winllan Pant Du Gwynedd and Anglesey Summer Netball League Division One matches.

The Llyn side were always in command, leading 15-10 at half time and finishing up with a 31-21 victory.

Player of the match for Pwllheli was Cerys Jones, with Rachel Southall voted best for Arfon.

Menai Mavericks edged an absolute cracker with Dyffryn Ladies 25-24.

Mavericks were 7-5 ahead after the opener, but trailed 12-10 at the midway stage.

Menai turned things around in the third quarter to lead 19-17 entering the last and held on to pip their opponents by a single goal.

PoM: Mavericks – Claire Billing; Dyffryn – Tesni Haf.

Primos were emphatic 37-17 winners against Holyhead.

It was just 7-4 to the victors at the end of the first session, but from there they took complete control.

PoM: Primos – Cherelle Jarvis; Holyhead – Becky Lloyd.

There was a tight finish in Division Two, where Pwllheli Subway Warriors squeezed past Dreigiau Brynrefs 18-17.

Warriors were always in front, 5-4, 9-7 and 14-12 at the completion of quarters one, two and three respective­ly, but Brynrefs took the closer 5-4 to finish just a goal behind.

Table-toppers Dolgellau saw off Porthmadog 25-12.

PoM: Dolgellau – Catrin Gittins; Port – Diane Williams.

Arfon Celts were 5-4 down after the first quarter against Pwllheli Wildcats, but soon turned it round, finishing 36-18 winners, scoring 14 times in the third quarter.

PoM: Celts – Kate Pritchard; Wildcats – Louise Pleasant.

The Gwynedd and Anglesey Junior Netball League held at Canolfan Brailsford in Bangor will be commencing again on October 6.
