Roberts: I’m not ruling out more signings

-

LLANGEFNI TOWN manager Chris Roberts is happy with the make-up of his squad, but has not ruled out bringing in more fresh faces before the start of the 2018/19 season.

Strikers Alan Mark Owen and Liam Morris, plus midfielders Marvin Pritchard and Chris Saxon, have added real quality to the Lon Talwrn ranks this summer.

However, Roberts said he would be willing to recruit again if the right player became available.

“Never say never,” he said. “We are always looking to strengthen but with most of last season’s squad committed for the new season, along with the new additions of Alan Mark, Marvin, Liam Morris and Chris Saxon, I am happy with the current squad.

“It is really good to have done most of the business early and now we can concentrate on getting ready for the new season and playing the way we want.”

Another major asset to the club is the addition of much revered Gerallt Jones to the coaching staff.

Roberts added: “Ger bring a lot of different things to the table. He is very vocal and not afraid to voice his opinion which I think is good. His knowledge of local football is second to none and he has great man management skills which is great to have in the dressing room with the lads.

“He is also an attacking-minded coach which brings a different approach to our bench with both myself and Tommo (Jason Thomas) having played as defenders throughout our careers which is exciting to have.

“He looks to have settled in straight away and took some parts in the session on Tuesday night along with Tommo, Mike (Roberts), Liam (Ewing) and myself.”

Llangefni kicked off their pre-season fixtures with a good workout at Huws Gray Alliance club Porthmadog last week. Port won the match 2-0.

Cefni are next due in action at Gwynedd League outfit Bontnewydd this Saturday.

Then on Saturday, July 21, the islanders visit Ruthin Town of the HGA, the current NEWFA Challenge Cup holders, travel to Saltney on July 28 and Holyhead Town on August 2.
