PROBE AFTER BODY FOUND ON SHORELINE

A STUNNING Vi Victorian t i mansion i on Anglesey that was once on the market for more than £1m could be snapped up for a vastly reduced price in an online auction.

Bryn Hyfryd in Llansadwrn, near Menai Bridge (pictured), was built on land once owned by the 4th Marquis of Anglesey and the property dates back to the 1880s.

The property has previously been on the market for more than £1 million but now the sellers have reduced the online guide price to only £390,000.

The online auction – run by SDL Auctions in partnershi­p with Dafydd Hardy – ends on July 31.

Andrew Parker, auctioneer and managing director at SDL Auctions, said: “We understand the land was closed if the deceased is a man or a woman.

It is unknown exactly where the body was found but it is understood that it was likely to be between Beaumaris and originally ii ll owned d b by th the 4th M Marquis i of Anglesey, who in 1881 leased it to Hugh Williams, a local farmer.

“It was he, we understand, who built Bryn Hyfryd.

“Over the years, the property has been added to and altered, and is now a spacious, comfortabl­e family home.”

It has four bedrooms in the main house, three bedrooms in the cottage and a consultanc­y room/studio plus Bangor. A Coastguard spokesman said: “We were called at 3.18pm.

“The Bangor Coastguard Rescue Team and Beaumaris lifeboat were called to the scene.” further f th office ffi space.

Andrew added: “Bryn Hyfryd is a property which is perfect for a variety of uses, whether as a substantia­l family home, holiday letting, bed and breakfast or even as a beautiful rural and coastal base from which to run your own business.

“The property is surrounded by beautiful gardens and grounds to the front, side and rear, offering constant colour throughout the seasons.”

The Coastguard spokesman said there were no further details.

Jurisdicti­on for the incident had been passed to North Wales Police.

A NWP spokesman said: “We can confirm we are investigat­ing the discovery of a body.”

Michael Whitty, prosecutin­g, said Jones had been out during the evening and was approached by Mr Hughes who thought he recognised him.

“For some reason this angered the defendant who became aggressive and the assault started.”

He pushed Mr Hughes from behind and then struck him on the head with a bottle three or four times.

He also struck his hand as Mr Hughes held it up to defend himself, Mr Whitty said.

Mr Whitty said an aggravatin­g feature was a previous conviction in April 2013 when Jones had assaulted a man in very similar circumstan­ces and almost in the same location on Bangor High Street
