- Sarah Hodgson

BRITAIN’S Got Talent star Gruffydd Wyn Roberts will host a free concert to thank the people of North Wales for all their support.

The singer from Amlwch on Anglesey finished fourth on the ITV talent show earlier this year and gained thousands of fans in the process.

The region got behind Gruff during his experience with around 1,000 gathering at Amlwch Port to watch him perform in the Britain’s Got Talent final last month via a big screen.

Now he wants to give something back to the community and will be hosting a free gig called “An Evening with Gruffyd Wyn and friends”.

The event will take place at Amlwch Port on August 25 between 6pm and 10.45pm.

He made the announcement on social media. Gruff tweeted: “FOR ONE NIGHT ONLY! I will be hosting and evening to thank the people of North Wales and beyond for their continued support during my time on Britain’s Got Talent and beyond! Let’s make it a night to remember!!! Full line up to be announced soon!!”

The 22-year-old went straight through to the live semi-finals after judge Amanda Holden hit her golden buzzer during his first audition.

The rugby player then fin- ished second in the public vote in the live semi-finals with his stunning rendition of Andrea Bocellis’ Nelle Tue Mani from the film Gladiator

His rendition of Perfect, which Andrei Boccelli had recorded with Ed Sheeran, captivated millions of people during the Britain’s Got Talent final but it only secured him enough votes to finish in fourth place.

Official voting stats from ITV have shown that there was less than 6% between Anglesey singer Gruffydd Wyn Roberts and second place runner up - fellow comedian Robert White. Third place went to singer Donchez Dacres. The competition was won by comedian Lost Voice Guy.
