Mental health support event

-

A new initiative has been launched to highlight the range of community support available to people in North Wales who are living with serious mental health problems.

The aim of the Agencies Coming Together (ACT) project is to help patients on Ysbyty Gwynedd’s Hergest Psychiatric Unit identify activities, groups and support organisations within their own communities which can help them to continue to look after their mental health once they are ready to go home.

The collaboration between Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, community groups and local mental health charities is being facilitated by the North Wales mental health development agency, Unllais.

A launch event, organised and facilitated by Unllais, was recently held at the Hergest Unit which saw over 40 different organisations showcase the support that they are able to provide.

Patients and staff were given information about housing, benefits and educational opportunities, as well as details of sport, craft and activity groups in their local area.

Future events are now being planned and any community groups or support organisations interested in participating can contact Rhian Hughes at Unllais for further information. Tel: 01745 827903 or e-mail: develnw@unllais. co.uk
